Ok, but needs to include what age audience it is best suited for.
This is a decent dvd with nice illustrations along with simple narration of these 18 Old Testament Bible Stories. In the product review it states "dramatized narration, with on screen displays of the text so your children, FRIENDS AND FAMILY can read along, or simply listen." There wasn't much more information than that, and there really needs to be. So, to kindly advise anyone out there who may be seeking what I had been seeking (a thorough, in depth retelling of the stories of the Old Testament to informatively brush up on OT education), I wish to give warning of what you'll be getting instead if you are considering this product for purchase. The stories are narrated, yes, and I can only suppose what is being referred to as "dramatized" is merely the deep booming voice of the narrator. On screen you do see lovely illustrations, off and on, in and around seeing on-screen text, as the story is being narrated. However, this is definitely not something teens or adults will find...
Lots of MISSING INFORMATION
I only got this to supplement some things we do on the Sabbath. Lots of information is either glossed over or missing entirely. For example, Abraham's son Ishmael is said to be Sarah's slave's son...which is true, but this video leaves out the fact that this was Abraham's son also. The binding of Isaac is set as if Isaac was a young boy, when in fact the Bible actually scores him at 30 years old, making it seem that Isaac had not agreed to be the sacrifice if need be; then of course he did not need to be... some things are done in that same Hollywood tone, which is unfortunate lots of caucasian images for people from upper Africa and the Middle East. These are things I suppose we have to expect from a production made in Canada. But I felt it my duty to let all know that if you want to sit down and view this in the place of actually reading scripture and studying the Word and Geography and History... this will not do. On a positive note, it's great to see just how much kids know and...
bible stories from the old testament
I was looking for movie DVD's and we recieved a read along that was not accurate to what the bible says. I don't appreciate the lying and not telling the whole story as the bible states. You should have stated that it was a DVD autio. I was looking for an animation movie for my children.
